To ensure a seamless broadcast experience, we provided a Broadcast Portable Production Unit (PPU) with vision mixing, replays, and live stream delay management. Our encoding solutions included both main and backup streams, ensuring a stable and high-quality broadcast. We also recorded ISO feeds of all footage for post-event analysis and content repurposing. Additionally, we managed all audio and communications to facilitate clear coordination while handling console feed conversion to optimise multiple inputs. Overseeing the technical management of the entire event, we ensured every element operated smoothly.
/highlights
This project was an exciting challenge, as esports is not our usual domain. However, working behind the scenes at Wembley was a fantastic experience, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the world of English football. The high level of gameplay made the event engaging, even for casual viewers.
/challenges
One of the main challenges we faced was optimising console feeds, ensuring they were in the correct format while maintaining the best possible setup for professional players. Internet reliability was another key hurdle, but we successfully overcame it using a bonding solution and EE SIM cards with network prioritisation, ensuring stable connectivity throughout the event.
/learnings
A key takeaway from this event was the importance of precision in setup. Taking the time to configure consoles and feeds with player input is crucial for a smooth experience. Additionally, adaptability in technical management proved vital, as solutions like network bonding can be essential in overcoming unexpected connectivity issues. By combining our technical expertise with innovative solutions, we successfully delivered a high-quality esports production at one of football’s most legendary venues.
